Isnt Jobs a vegan? Cancer or not, not eating any animal products whatsoever is going to make you quite thin. If for no other reason than most things have animal products thus there just isnt a lot to eat.
Most things which can (!) make you fat, are natural products which "we" extract from fruits (starch, sugar, and so on), and which "we" use daily in "our" kitchen. It has nothing to do with "animal products".

When the Liberals had a majority, they pretty much did what they wanted. They became arrogant. When the Progressive Conservatives under Mulroney had a majority in the 80's, same thing. Only when there is a minority government is there a little bit of give and take between the parties.

because it's turned on by default. it should be off by default (IMO) and then turned on as an option. many people aren't aware that Facebook's new "features" are almost always on when rolled out.
It will only update if you allow it to use your location, and then after that only if you tap the places icon. It doesn't update your location automatically.

I've driven through Valle Crucis (http://www.vallecrucis.com/) a couple times, but never stayed. It's a gorgeous, isolated N.C. mountain town. May be farther than you're willing to drive, though--I'd guess about 8 hours from Maryland.

Well, if we were vehement about dismissing their review of the iPhone 4 as flawed then shouoldn't we be consistent and do the same for the iPad. If they're not worth paying attention to because of bad review then why laud them for picking the iPad as the best tablet. I'm just say'in.

AWS-1 (a.k.a. UMTS Band IV) is a standard in the U.S. and Canada. I think Japan has also allocated AWS-1 (to eMobile). It is constructed out of two parts: 1710 to 1755 MHz and 2110 to 2155 MHz. Devices which support AWS-1 are commonly labeled "1700." Quite simply, that's the spectrum that was available to put up for auction. T-Mobile and Wind Mobile either could bid on that spectrum and use it for 3G service or not. Mobile device manufacturers can now produce AWS frequency products if they want to sell through these carriers or not. It's Apple's choice whether to play or pass.
Years ago, European nations did not adopt the same frequency allocations that the U.S. did for the world's first cellular service (824-849 MHz paired with 869-894 MHz). It's hardly unusual that different groups of countries have different allocations, primarily because of existing services that were already licensed but also occasionally for political reasons.
There are all kinds of variations in spectrum allocations between countries and regions. The U.S. has allocated spectrum in the 700+ MHz range for LTE services (which Verizon in particular plans to use). Europe and Asia use 2100+ MHz for 3G while the U.S. doesn't. Europe has allocated 900+ MHz and 1800+ MHz spectrum to GSM (and now some 3G) while the U.S. has allocated the AMPS (824-849/869-894) and 1900+ MHz ranges. If Apple does support AWS-1, it would significantly improve the compatibility of their products in North America. It isn't a particularly difficult engineering issue. (Fairly trivial, actually.) Nokia has already done so with the N8 which supports GSM/EDGE on 850/900/1800/1900 and 3G on 850/900/1700/1900/2100.

Something I'd like to see is a rackmount SDXC RAID array. Think how many sd slots would fit in a 1U array. I know, probably won't happen, but still interesting to see.

Oh I didn't realize they wanted to eliminate funding, I thought it was just an argument over reducing it.
Not only that, but if they really just wanted to achieve a 2% spending cut, they wouldn't've had to include such a touchy program in the list. Seems to me like they don't care if the government shuts down, since they believe the Democrats will get the blame, so they either let the gov shut down or they force Democrats to accept their cuts. It's a win-win for them.

Seeing as apple now has a majority of auto makers making connectivity and now the airline industry is getting on board, this is a major blow to the Zune. Neither cars nor airplanes will come with every connection possible so that any media player can be used. This is a great step for apple and potential apple customers.
How about a built-in mag safe connector for the airplanes too? :)

They rated it as their BEST smartphone, but said they wouldn't recommend it.
How does that make any sense?
Because, in their opinion, the iPhone 4's antenna was bad enough to make it bad at being a phone, which is its purpose, even though all the other parts of it were and still are amazing. However, they were completely wrong about that. Yes, maybe the reception gets worse when you touch that black spot, but I never leave the house without a case around it because the thing's expensive, so I never really got their point. That's why I tend to take CR with a grain of salt, but they did give it high ratings so... i guess you just have to read into their recommendations to get the full picture and decide for yourself.

I don't care to argue about the effectiveness of the adds. But I will say that the Angel/Devil one was kinda stupid. It didn't even advertise Macs. I think I am tiring of the format of the commercials. I would like to see one show just what can be done with OS X.

Apple is not to blame here, if you read the comments below you'll see the cell providers are:

Edited answer: The person who said I was wong was basically right. CDMA and GSM networks use a GPS clock, but the switch still needs to know what offset to use for the local time. All GPS sats use UTC, not local time. TDMA and AMPS networks still have their time entered by hand."

...maybe I could have found more with different search words, but I think this tells the real story, cell phones get their time from their cell service which is more localized and not maintained/monitored the same way as your ISP for your computer. (I've had clock setting issues when traveling w/laptop, but normally you are in one or two places at most w/laptop and not reliant upon a network of cell towers with more variables).
Calendar events are reliant upon the time being set right in the phone, again, not apple's fault, the cell carrier's problem. This has been an issue since people starting using smart phones (of any brand) for their alarm.

You know, I wish congress and everyone involved in this process would somehow realize money doesn't grow on trees and that running at an operating loss of nearly 33% is, ah, not the best way to ensure longterm longevity and is a bad financial strategy.
I just do not think politicians get this. Maybe because they can more or less print money at a whim?
50 billion in cuts is still barely 5% of the budget deficit. I guess it'll be a hard one to do considering the bulk of federal spending is defense, pensions/healthcare, and welfare. Those are all sacred cow spending sources to one of the two parties.
I'd love to see someone from the republican party make a challenge/promise to cut 10% from the defense budget if democrats were able to cut 10% from healthcare (either via premiums or other means) or vice versa from a democrat. Compromise is about both sides conceding something. Not demanding the other side give in 100%. It seems the majority of politicians can only do the latter.
