K so this is the first time I am using Wordpress to make a website for a new client. It is a company and not a blogger but I thought I would try it since they want to be able to add their own photos whenever they want..and they want forms like people adding their emails to a database etc. Basically they want all the little goodies but they will not be blogging. The main page is a typical "about us" kind of page....All the themes I have seen are blog layouts. How would I go about finding or making a theme that is not a "blog layout"..I wanted one something like this...
http://www.justdreamweaver.com/templates/digitaldownloads/index.html
I am pretty sure I could turn that into the site that I want...Is there anywhere with basic site themes that are not for bloggers?
thanks.

That is great. It has DVI and DisplayPort. Since mDP to dual-link DVI adapter is 99$, just get a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort (http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10246#1024606) cable for 5 bucks. Use that for the MBP and then DVI for the PC. Pretty much all GPUs have dual-link DVI anyway and a dual-link DVI cable is something like 5 bucks too.
I have that cable and it works well, but there is still the keyboard/mouse, usb etc. I guess it's not a big deal to switch a single cable between the laptop & the desktop. BUT, I just upgraded my wife to a 27" led and realized I still have an older 24" led cinema with the power adapter/etc that I still have not sold. I'm going to just put it on a separate desk. Don't really need the 30" for web/programming work, would be nice, but not required. The 24" is plenty for work. Although I feel a little guilty for having a 30" monitor to use just for games, quicken, and off-windows things that are not related to any client (ie any specific VM, I have one for each client I work with).

The moderators have selected the finalists for the Best Static Avatar contest. Now it's the members' turn to vote for their favorite. The winner will be the entry with the most votes by the end of the voting period, Saturday (New Year's Eve) at midnight EDT. In the case of a tie, we'll leave the polls open for an extra day.
Entries are in alphabetical order. Please vote for your one favorite in this poll and in each of the 2 other contest polls as well. It is also quite appropriate to post comments and compliments in this thread.
Choosing was not an easy task so entries that just missed the finals were awarded Honorable Mention. Congratulations to all of the members who entered the contest and thanks for your participation.
Static avatars: Honorable Mention:

Additional Honorable Mention:
A number of contest entries had a MacRumors theme or a 2 million post theme. These themes were not contest categories. Veldek's avatar above was a near-finalist in its own right, and we were also impressed with one other static avatar having a 2 million post theme:

Hi,
I recently upgraded to Xcode 4 from 3, I've previously used the defaults terminal command to change the default syntax style that it suggests (for example space between function and it's parenthesis). Following the instructions here:
http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/DeveloperTools/Reference/XcodeUserDefaultRef/100-Xcode_User_Defaults/UserDefaultRef.html
This doesn't seem to work for Xcode 4.
Does anyone know how to change the default code sense settings?

someone gave me this theory one time, I don't buy it. I can't imagine that you aerodynamics would be afected by opening the SIDE windows. There is no air that flys into it (maybe something to do with pressure flowing across it), but I can't imagne that it would be a big deal. I would assume, certainly not as much of a mileage user as an air conditioning system would be.
Without a doubt, opening your side windows creates drag. It disrupts the flow of air around the vehicle. Any disruption like that can create drag. A/C is pretty efficient now, so there is not a big benefit to turning it off.
The best benefit to fuel economy is to slow down. I read somewhere that you gain 10-15% fuel economy buy driving 60mph instead of 70mph.

Meh.
I would be excited but I am still waiting to see what Apple does to counter the Xbox360 HD movie salvo that MS fired yesterday. The 'iTV' isn't looking too hot these days
Yeah, MS fired a good one. However, I think people are far more likely to buy a $300 box to attach to their TV than a gaming system for digital media.

I downloaded this last night. I don't use it much, but noticed that the menus are now in the right place, and it doesn't quit when you close the last document. The interface is still ugly though, but I'm sure it'll be fixed soon.

Well right now at Futureshop (retailer around here) a 2GB sandisk MS Duo is $69.99 cdn on sale, while the 4GB is at it's regular $149.99, although the 4GB was on sale last week for $89.99. They kinda flip flop. A computer place around here, NCIX, has a 4GB for regular price at $112.70 cdn, while another computer place, a-power, has the 2GB for $79.99 regular price. They aren't dead on, but if you shop around you can get them for a reasonable price.

Hi,
I need a link to 4.3 firmware
just got a refurbished 3GS from apple which has iOS 4.2.1 on it and i cant back up my restore point as it was done on iOS4.3
if I try to update in itunes it downloads the latest 4.3.2 which may also not be compatible with my restore which was last done on iOS4.3
I need to update the replacement iphone to 4.3 then restore my 4.3 backup and then obviously put the latest 4.3.2 on it !
Thanks

no u200 love :(
Yeah, I guess the $125+ each month I pay is not good enough for this service. Come on!! :(
I do like U-Verse a lot, though. Better than any cable in my area and fast internet too. Wish I'd get a break for having 2 iPhones and the U-Verse service...

My Mom's G3 iMac (running 10.3.9) keeps on either freezing up, going into deep unwakable sleep or kernal panicking. I ran Disk Utilities and it told me that everything is A-OK. I repaired permissions and all that jazz as well. I think that the PRAM battery is out, however, b/c I keep on getting the 'Your Computer's clock is set before..." message at each startup. Would this cause the above stated problems? Thanks in advance.

I just bought a 16G Nano and love it! Because I am quite late in the game with the iPods, I would have to say no to the scroll wheel. I've owned 2 iPhones and have an iPad, so all I've been accustomed to now are the finger swipes....so convenient and responsive, love it!!!

I'm of two minds, which I don't think are really all that incompatible.
The cynical pragmatist side says, "hope in one hand and crap in the other, and see which piles up first." Hoping things work out is no substitute for doing something, anything, to make them work out. I grew up around people who took "hope" to suggest they should just let everything go and trust "God" to make their lives work out as "He" sees fit, and that passive attitude disgusts me.
On the other hand, hope is the counterpoint to despair and resignation that the worst will happen despite what we do. Hope can encourage us to take positive action when we would otherwise be discouraged into complacency by the perceived likelihood of failure. I have seen too many people with negative attitudes who have an almost uncanny tendency to get exactly what they expect out of life. Depressive fatalism likewise disgusts me.
The common thread, of course, is that hope is valuable to exactly the extent it gets you off your ass and into the game. Whatever encourages that is a virtue; whatever discourages it a vice.
As for my own sources and objects of hope, that's a bit too personal for PRSI.

The four Christmas Albums from Mannheim Steamroller:
Mannheim Steamroller Christmas (1984)
A Fresh Aire Christmas (1988)
Christmas in the Aire (1995)
Christmas Extraordinaire (2001)
Are still by far my favorite Christmas albums. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/good2.gif That's why I have them on my iPods.

No mention of gameplay style,
Mario & Sonic at the Olympics is a Strategy RPG with a First Person view and some random Tank Battles now and then...
...What do you think gameplay/game styles are going to be, it doesn't take a genius...

Seems like a lot of people have been having similar issues. Tried the old standby- re-starting the computer. That did it for now.

Keep it. Nothing wrong with a public flogging flagging for bad behaviour: Keeps the masses in line and helps maintain law and order.
OTOH, timing-out folks silently (gagging them, with no public recognition) is reminiscent of hapless, Soviet-era dissidents just "disappearing". A tad totalitarian, no?
