As a follow-up on the GripVue, note the notch to the right of the charging port. That's the unobstructed speaker...

    http://www.belkin.com/images/product/F8Z657-C01_RND/FUL1_F8Z657-C01_RND.jpg

Also, note the colors on the "Tint" versions (Black, Clear (shown above), Royal Purple, Night Sky, and Taro). It's odd that the bright colors that Best Buy has (besides Night Sky) are not shown. They also have a "Metallic" line (Black, White, and Taro).

Thanks for the clearing this up.

The reviewed by iLounge states that the Moto case by Gumdrop does cover the speaker.

Finally a Mac rumor instead of all those iDevice rumors!

what's the first letter in imac?

An all-in-one computer is just another consumer device. Bring on the Mac Pros

It's interesting that Europeans embrace manuals, while Americans don't. Also, Europeans favor driving experience over comfort. Is this somehow related to gasoline prices?

Because they fear the iPod... and its ecosystem...

This is key for sure. The success of the iPod is directly attributed to its integrated "ecosystem" as you put it. iTS, iTunes, iPod.

Slowly but surely, with movies, photos and games - and MUCH talk of cell phone syncing with iCal, Address Book and iApps - Apple is attempting to tie iLife & OS X into the equation... making it a critical and integral part of that ecosystem.

If people wanted the full iPod experience, they NEEDED iTunes... so they adopted it. In the future, with product XYZ, people will NEED OS X for the full experience... and they will adopt it.

THAT is what MS fears about Apple/iPod. They could give a rat's ass about the portable music/media market. They just want desperately to kill the iPod and what it means for MS's future.

In my opinion, they should've undersold by $50+/unit. At their current rate, they'll never penetrate the market.

You still don't get it. It is having all your music with you. The choice to play anything you feel in the mood to hear , not that you play it all from start to finish.

That's exactly it. I bought an iPod classic so that, of the 18,551 tracks I have within my iTunes library, when I am feeling the urge to listen to one of them - I absolutely know that I have it on me.

Does Lion feel much faster and more stable? I mean its been like 5 or 6 weeks since DP1. They had plenty of time to eliminate bugs. Im askin cause we dont see too much new features expect redesigned iCal.

Faster? Not so sure. More stable? Definitely. All of my main bugs have been fixed aside from the full screen apps on dual screens.

In fact - that comparison is a little early. Make the same one in 5 years.

I am wondering how the comparison for the XBox vs. Playstation vs. others looked like some days after the initial start.

It kills me that the least expensive Apple display is $700. I just can't justify the tax over a Dell display, and I'm amazed how others can. A Dell 2007WFP (their 20" widescreen display which uses the same panel that's found in Apple's 20") is $400. It also sports inputs for VGA, composite and S-Video. And for a Dell, the display is reasonably attractive.

The Apple displays give you a shiny aluminum bezel, firewire routing, and software display controls. Is that enough to merit a 75% markup?

So, I'm thrilled if this is true and Apple is putting out a less-expensive display option. But I'd love it if they brought the rest of their lineup into check with the competition.

    Well......you know what I mean ;)

I do, but I also love to be an ass. :)

I think Apple would enjoy being able to say "all superdrive, all 64-bit, all dual core..."

And we'd enjoy hearing it. But Apple also has to gouge us for profit. It's a two way street.

It is already far to easy for me to get the $9.99 per month Netflix account and burn every disk that I get in the mail. Also, it is very easy for me to download HD quality movies from Bit Torrent any old time I please. I don't do it because I am honest but I don't think it is right for the movie industry to not offer a viable alternative for electronic downloads as well. (and no I don't think that "Movielink" is a viable alternative) The ability to pirate things from the iTMS is no greater than any other form of distribution IMO.
I agree with you that it's very easy to pirate movies from Netflix, but by already having the movie file on your computer makes it that much more likely that you will pirate it.

Rented movies in a digital form just take away some of the steps required to pirate a movie, it makes it that much easier, and will invite more people to do it. (this is from the view of the movie executives, of course)

I just do not see it happening.

But if there were no army ants in addition to worker ants, the colony would have never made it.

Your making the assumption that human beings are "surviving" we haven't been around for very long.

Humans as organisms have a distressing habit of overusing our resources, building weapons so dangerous that they put our very existence at risk...etc.

I think when evolution made us it crafted a loser...but only time will tell.

What makes you think that it "can't run software"? Current 32bit CPU's will be usable for years to come.
The worry is that in a few years interesting software applications will only come in x64 - companies will drop the fat binaries due to the expenses associated with multiple versions of the software.

This is already happening on the Windows side - several major apps will only be x64 in their next versions.

So, not only can the 64-bit chip be significantly faster when in 64-bit mode - it is more future-proof.

I guess we're diverging from the actual rumour - new Mac Mini real soon.

I look at the existing Mac Mini, and your wish, and see too many $ signs!.

Perhaps our wishes require a range of options. Mac Media HD vs Mac Media. ;-)
I would be happy with FW800 although it would be hard to justify an immediate upgrade on that basis. It's annoying to have a FW800 raid device that can only operate at half speed. Of course esata (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esata) would be nice but then I'd also have to upgrade my drive.

Exactly! Now maybe you see my first point.

No your missing my first point. Sharing in my mind in this context is the listening but not the distribution of music. Synching is the distribution.

Hence why i was saying my method would allow you to share your library's but not sync them to more than one pod thus eliminating the piracy factor.

We are obviously talking about different things
