I recall some of the naysayers around here not even a year ago stating that such a device would never be suitable for gaming. And here we are. With HD output to your TV.

How does your vision plan to implement any non-steering games on the big screen? You can either look at your iPad, or look at the television. There is a reason physical buttons are important for big screen gaming. Touch screen gaming will always suck for anything more than flinging birds into bricks.

It outperforms the 320M under OS X. It certainly doesn't "suck" as much as you make it out to be.

Except that doesn't take into account the superdrive and hard drive. It's more like a $100 price drop.
Ah, you're right, I missed the Superdrive change. Nice catch. I've never paid mind to the HDD inasmuch as it almost begs for a high-capacity external drive anyway, in my opinion.

Mac Mini - low end machine good for offices as a small server or low end word processing workstation.
iMac - All in one consumer machine - no upgradeability
"Mac" - Prosumer gamer machine - some upgradeablity
Mac Pro - Full fledged workstation for those who need all the power they can get.
But I want to see the iMac and "Mac" be equal in power- both available in both consumer to presumer configurations! I also want the Mac mini done away with and replaced with the "Mac" you speak of... it's too small for its own good. The G4 cube should be brought back, this time as a consumer/prosumer machine, replacing the Mac mini.
Basically, Apple needs to snap out of it and realize that there is a market for a headless and integrated machines at EVERY PRICE... I want a prosumer iMac, personally.

i don't think buying family pack for .Mac gives you 5 licenses. i think it's more like spliting one .mac account to 5.

I don't see the big hoopla and the press who are probably not very tech savy just ran with this....
If you really knew about the features Apple offers with the iPhone then they would know that they have a service to find your stolen iPhone...how else would it work...?? lol morons.
This is no biggie.
This is also capable on any phone...triangulation can be done on any cellular device if the "authorities" wanted too look for someone.

You still don't get it. It is having all your music with you. The choice to play anything you feel in the mood to hear , not that you play it all from start to finish.

I don't think there's been any compelling evidence to support that, sadly. At least, several very seemingly viable component technologies, such as ULV C2D's, are not available yet.
For the iSight, too, no really compelling evidence of what the revised product would be, should there be one.

PS for the people who don't know apple does not support Crossfire or SLI in mac os x so the 6990 which is a dual GPU on a single card solution will not and can not be supported until they change how osx works.
Well then, Apple is gonna confuse alot of people with the 5770 crossfire MP upgrade. Look it up folks, crossfire is supported

Any thoughts - why no Merom?
Apple seems to be stratifying their desktop lines based on processors.
Mini - Core Duo (Yonah) 1.66-1.83GHz
iMac - Core 2 Duo (Merom) 1.83GHz-2.33GHz
Mac Pro - Quad Xeon (Woodcrest) 2.00GHz-3.00GHz
All of this leaves room for Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4GHz) and E6700 (2.67GHz) to eventually appear in a suitable form factor some time in the future.

I will be surprised if the Solo continues. Duo across the line, even C2D, would be a nice milestone and there shouldn't be a lot of money difference.
Also, let's not forget that Solos are Duos that have one core disabled. As Intel's yields have improved have improved over time (I would guess), I suspect that the need to sell Solos to recoup losses would be reduced...
The big guessing game will be when the speed bump occurs: now, on 12 September or on 25 September (Photokina)...

From the first article "A diesel Cruze would be about 12 percent more fuel efficient than the ECO, but diesel is about 9 percent more expensive than gasoline, eliminating the majority of the benefit." Also from the article, the ECO costs $19,000. In England, GM charges an extra $2700 for the diesel version. So it looks like you have to drive a lot of miles before you break even.
Am I anti diesel? Hardly, I bought a diesel Dodge Ram back in 1999 and still have it. At the time the initial cost was several thousand more than a gas model. Diesel fuel at that time was significantly less expensive than gasoline and the fuel economy was a lot better. I still have that truck though for my daily commute, I drive my Chevy Lumina as it gets 20 mpg in town (much better than my truck). If fuel prices keep going up, a may commute by bicycle this summer... I may do that anyway for health reasons though not if it gets too hot.

people, we need a reality-check here! all this talk of sales grinding to a halt is complete bs. what does merom have that yonah doesn't? it has 5-20% better performance clock-for-clock and it's 64bit. that's it, in the end. are those really such features that not having those would doom the mini? no they are not! mini is about being cheap. and using yonah is a good way of doing just that. if you want more performance, apple has other products for you.
what would i like to see? lower price (maybe -100 across the board) and maybe dvd-burner on all models. add to that a new cpu, and you are all set.

There is a reason that some of us Jailbreak, outside of the desire to add applications outside of the appstore.
Apple hackers develop better jailbreaks now so they can keep up with the superior system Android has.
There's so much more one can do with Android.
After having every iPhone, I tried Android and I'm so amazed at their great capabilities.
Android is awesome.
That said my Iphone 4 is best as an iPod replacement.
I have the best of both worlds.
