Only way this works is if Apple makes the movie available for download/rental a week or two before DVD release (or earlier, like hotel PPV). Otherwise, I'll just *obtain* it elsewhere.

Just like the mactard to not question why apple is storing this info without informing consumers. The lengths that you guys will go to defend a company is astounding
Why is it necessary to keep your location a secret? What are Google and Apple going to do to you? What *exactly* and *specifically* is there to be afraid of?
Your location is *never* a secret, unless you're the President and it's a national crisis.
What, are you worried that Apple and Google saw you shop at Target? LOL

I hope to god they don't use bluetooth. I've had nothing but bad sound quality with those types of headphones.
I hope they do... but in addition to 802.11b/g/n. If they ever provide better PIM applications or an SDK to develop your own applications, bluetooth would be use for for syncing the PIMs and connecting to a mobile phone.
I haven't seen any yet, but I would guess headphones using Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR would provide a better experience. Perhaps something like that'll be available by the time a bluetooth-enabled iPod would be released.

That's amazing! The hardware is moving so fast now, the gains are incredible. Hopefully many more ios developers will take some time to create amazing features like these.

For me, the antenna issue was WORSE than people had reported.
I don't see how. I saw it being reported on the national evening newscasts and on the front pages of newspapers. How much more reporting could there possibly have been?

Oh, you will always be able to run Xcode on a Mac. You'll just have to buy the developer subscription for a few thousand dollars per year in order to get it activated...
What Apple actions would lead you to believe that would ever happen? I dont see the logic in such fears.

Kinda. They are manual gear boxes with no clutch pedal. Shifting is either automatic or manual.
Technically, it's a manual gearbox... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct-Shift_Gearbox)
If this sounds strange, I had an old Beetle with a stick shift automatic.
Dale
I mean their manuals.
(Not the VW Autostick or any of their other manumatic stuff.)

I just bought a Core Duo on the 21st, needless to say I'm pissed. Anyone know apple's price match policy? If you call and complain, they might give you a refund for the difference. You're just over 2 weeks. Be persistent and ask to speak to a supervisor.

An email from Steve Jobs (edit: last September) isn't exactly recent...
That said, I do think it's possible that Apple might re-invent the classic. If they want cloud portability with some data stored on MobileMe, all on the "personal cloud" via back-to-my-mac, some on my iPhone etc - then a really large portable device might be very popular.
ie: For someone who regularly uses large data files and programs, and moves between machines on different networks - being able to place an iPod Classic (plus bluetooth & NFC?) next to any random Mac and have full access to all your programs and files WITHOUT needing an Internet connection could be really useful.

Playing that game with the HDMI dongle thingy hanging off an iPad looks, um, not ideal. Now, if it could stream it using AirPlay.

am i the only one who doesn't think the name is as awful as people think? :D
in any event, i doubt that's the name. granted, apple doesn't register urls for individual products, i'd find it hard to believe that they'd leave this one in the wind for just anyone to snatch up.
in all likelihood it relates to some aspect of the features, or the overall weight of the device.
i really wish it was the fabled MacTablet being released, but it sounds like it's still a ways off...

I really don't car about close racing in F1 as I would just prefer teams the engineering to be unregulated (except for safety). My opinion I believe is in the minority.
Not at all. I yearn for the days of Can-Am and Group B racing - racing was dangerous and sex was safe back in those days.
For road based cars, I want close racing.
That has its limits though. Some of last season's GT1 races looked more like crash testing than racing.

To the BMW guys, how reliable is the E46 325i?
I have a chance to pick one up for a fairly low cost (Less than $6,000 canadian). It is pretty much mint and VERY well maintained.
Car has a bit higher miles (~125,000 miles/ 205,000km), but I am guessing well maintained they will last quite a while?
I really enjoyed my brothers E36, and I just got rid of my project cars so I figure this would be a nice change.
My brothers/dads old E46 330xi has been giving him trouble with 150,000 miles on it. Things do wear out, but it seems like every time I hear about the car, it is broken.

Yeah great, it's very wonderful.
Now try to take some video on your mac and get it onto your magical thousand dollar iPad2 for use in iMovie. Try to work on a song you created in Garageband on your mac in Garageband on the iPad2.
What's that? A BIG OL CLUSTERBANG OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE WAY!!!

I think Apple is more concerned with price for the Mac Mini than speed. Make them just a little bit faster than they are now, but much cheaper.
They're too expensive in the line-up now, with merom they would stay the same price but with Yonah they can make them cheaper again.
Oh I know. As it stands now, the base Mac Mini in Canada, even with the edu discount is almost $700 (CDN) which is ridiculous when you can get full fledged PC laptops for less than that. I know it's a Apple, and it's a Mac so you expect higher prices, but still...

This is a very special thread. :)
So who knows what will happen next week. I think I'd much rather buy movies from iTunes (hopefully QT 7 HD quality) or regular physical DVD than HD-DVD/Blu-Ray (way over-priced).

There WILL be an Apple phone at MWSF
-- HOWEVER --
it will only have modest music playback capabilities. If you want a good music player AND a good phone then you will have to buy a Nano AND an Apple Phone.
If wish this was more than just paper thin speculation, because this is exactly what I want to be the case: there's nothing I want to do less on my phone than play music.

Why do you even bother trolling an Apple forum?
It's fun reading about people who try to justify privacy invasion because Apple does it but would be raising a ruckus if it was Microsoft or anyone else. The double standard and blind following is funny.
